A Mason belongs to a local lodge, where members meet, learn, plan charitable and community activities, and enjoy fellowship. The lodge is not simply a building\u2014it is a group of men working to become better husbands, fathers, friends, neighbors and citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Principles Guide a Freemason?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Masons are encouraged to practice honesty, integrity, compassion, responsibility and respect for others. Masonic lodges do not tell members how to worship. In Texas, a man seeking membership must express belief in God, but men of different faiths may meet as brothers while respecting one another\u2019s beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freemasonry and Politics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freemasonry is not a political organization. Partisan political and sectarian religious debates are not part of lodge meetings. This helps men with differing viewpoints build friendships around the values they share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Become a Freemason?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Membership begins with a man\u2019s own decision to ask. Qualifications and the application process are established by the Grand Lodge of Texas. Character, belief in God, age and residency requirements are among the considerations.
